You know how they switch from scene to scene on MTV but the music is still playing, how do I edit and put all types of scenes onto one song, do I have to feed it in from 3 different tapes? Seems like the instruction manual said I can ‘edit’ into a scene, how can a scene possibly move when it’s stuck on a tape? My camera has a small mini DV tape, its not 100% digital. I want to spend around 500-600 dollars on a sony handycam/camcorder. But do not know which one to choose. I love those hard drive ones but have heard the quality of footage would be lower as it should compress the movie. So I think a better choice is DVD or mini DV ones. But which model? Can you help?

I am trying to transfer video recordings from my camcorder (-which uses a mini-digital video cassette) to my laptop (runs Windows XP Home Edition). I am using a DV cable to connect the two, and am using Windows Moviemaker software. The laptop simply doesnot recognize the camera. I connect the two and turn on the camera to play mode (as the camera instruction manual says), and hit capture from video device, I get a message saying – No video capture device detected. Am I missing something here? Is it simply a fault with the DV cable? Should I be using a different software?
