How do you upload videos from an Everio JVC 30GB camcorder to a mac?

I have just recently got this camera and i love it! The only problem is that I tried uploading my videos onto my MacBook and and only uploaded the pictures not the videos. For some reason I’m thinking it may be only compatible with windows? I use iPhoto to upload and iMovie to edit if that helps. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME!
