Some Irish Garden Birds
Here are a few birds that I filmed in my garden in County Clare in March 2008 while learning to use a Canon video camera on a tripod. Nice stuff.I`ve responded with a video of a goldfinch we came across whilst surveying.
great video, i wish i had all the birds you have in you’re garden in mine.
No worries! It’s fun to look em up.
Thanks!
Not to worry – the correct name for the bird in the video is in fact European Goldfinch. I should have used the full name in the video!
Ahh, ok its the European Goldfinch.
There’s so many species.
I dont think the one you labeled Goldfinch is a Gold Finch, at least the Gold Finch here is called the American Gold Finch. This one you have her looks totally different.
Nice video. Good music. Cheers.
are you interested in ornithology? that’s very nice and professional bird video. we’ve got exactly the same birds in Poland but I’ve seen few birds in Ireland I’ve never seen them before and they’re not in our country. like that small bird ( stonechat ) at my clip or some birds with very long bills. if I see them again and tape them I will upload it here and let you know. cheers
thank you!
I found you in our friend efada’s channel
you are welcome-
I’m glad you enjoyed the video, and I look forward to checking out your videos also!
very nice!!!
thanks for the post
I love watching birds
thanks for writting their names in so delicate way
Brill vid.Pretty little things.Love birds.Used to watch them where I formally lived, have allot of cardinals around, cool to watch.
Hey all this time jratt and I finally subscribed to ya,lol.Apologies,gettin slow in my middle aged years I suppose.lol :-}}}
I kind of figured that was why you left them out….no one likes a bully that comes in and takes over territory.
Rooks fly over all the time, but they don’t really stop off in the garden. When they do, they tend to bully the smaller birds away though. Glad you like the vid!
Nice one. Your goldfinches look much different than “ours” (they migrate thru) here. Amazing the diversity of Nature.
But…..no rooks?!
great video top marks.
very nice. Good work. I like the collared dove.
Spot on, good music too.
Brilliant jratt!..I hadn’t even made the connection…spot on!
Your video is better though, cause I’m pretty sure Eamon didn’t have his own Aviary!
(And, of course, when you say Eamon De Buitlear out loud you just have to use a faux French accent… Ha ha!!
Perhaps its a subliminal reminder of the old Eamon de Buitlear wildlife series of times gone by? He used Irish music as soundtracks to his programmes.
The music that accompanies this video is perfect (and sounds even better with the “watch in high quality” option) Donal Clancy I believe, playing a couple of Jigs: “Garrett Barry’s” and “The Humours of Trim”?
There is something very relaxing in watching Nature to the sound of Traditional music!
We had 3 siskins briefly in November but none since, its usually Feb when they arrive so I’m keeping an eye out for them.
Parus major is only an occassional visitor I’m afraid…I’ll have to get some shots specially for you though!
We get Redpolls every winter but they are really hard to film as they never stay still. The first Siskins of the winter showed up this week too, but Song Thrushes are a bit rare around my neck of the woods.
You missed my namesake off Parus Major
Nice video and informative text. We’ve got a regular pair of song thrushes and at least 5 rooks that come down every day. Also had a redpoll last week, first one I’ve seen in the garden.
